Tell City of Eugene and Lane County to SLOW DOWN on changing animal welfare/control!

The City/County announced a plan to have LCAS "transition" to a "new model" possibly by July 1, 2012. They have decided the only input the community will have are two public input sessions and one representative on the committee who selects the winning bid for the sheltering and adoption part of the model.

The Problem: There are no shelters in Lane County physically able to take over this huge project or match the live release rate and treament that LCAS provides for all stray dogs and some stray cats. Plus, no shelter has a better army of compassionate volunteers who help keep the animals happy, mentally healthy, and provide essential support to ensure a high live release rate.

They are moving way too fast! The City/County are attempting to replace in less than four months a project that took ten years to achieve. The transition team, made up of administrative staff, know nothing about sheltering dogs and cats. Animals lives and well being are at stake! We will not accept anything less than what LCAS is today for our animals.

We request that City/County keep LCAS running for one more year. And in that time a community of knowledgeable resuce groups and animals experts will sit down with both entities and work out a plan to transition LCAS into something more efficient, less costly, and just as humane as it is now.

Please let your voice be heard! Please sign the petition and advocate on behalf of all aniimals in Lane County!

Thank you!
