This petition addresses the great need for dependable public transportation in the Marlton area. This is especially true for, but not limited to the seniors in our area. There is no public transportation in the Marlton area, and as I was told by the Prince George's County Department of Transportation nearly 5 years ago, none planned in the near future. The catch 22 is that because there is no public transportation here, our seniors are not allowed to apply to Metro Access for service.
There are many seniors in the Marlton area that do not own a personal means of transportation. Some are home owners, but most are residents of the only senior apartment building in Marlton, The Lodge at Marlton. There are some seniors who do own vehicles but there are occasions when vehicles break down or their owners do and find themselves at a great disadvantage and unable to get to necessary appointments.
It is our sincere hope and goal to secure a means of transportation starting at the Lodge at Marlton. We are willing to work in earnest towards this end and sincerely have the faith that you will do the same.
