*** This petition is to raise the voice of the many people across the UK who are becoming more enviromentally conscious and vegan who feel that universities should be providing more plant-based options.
Lancaster University is a Top Ten UK university, and quickly rising on the leagues.
Whilst they are trying to attract more students to join and live on campus, they are not providing enough food options for students who would prefer to avoid animal products, vegan, vegetarians and environmentally conscious students.
With the recent news of the only vegan and vegetarian cafe being moved out of the university campus, the university campus life has become a much more difficult space to find animal-free foods.
This is important for vegan students studying and living on the university campus, who find their options at Lancaster University limited and very restrictive. With the rise of veganism and vegetarianism in the UK there are more vegan and vegetarian students on campus than ever, who deserve more consideration. This can also make campus life feel out-dated in comparison to other UK universities and very unappealing to new students.
It is also important for for an environmentally conscious university to provide, enough plant-based options for their students. Many students vegan or not would prefer to avoid animal-based meals to reduce their carbon print on the environment. It is a shame that Lancaster University students have such limited options available to them on campus.
Expanding the meat-free, dairy-free, vegan food options will benefit our environment, that is seriously harmed by these industries. It was also benefit us all as a community of students and is much need for the university's reputation.
