End My Limbo - Miss my mum and dad

We urgently appeal to the Australian government to extend compassion and justice for Mathi, who arrived in Australia as an unaccompanied minor from war-torn Sri Lanka more than a decade ago. Mathi's life has been a resilience in the face of overwhelming adversity through the scars of war, political victimisation, and family separation.

Born into a Political Tamil family in the northern province of Sri Lanka, Mathi was forced to flee his homeland at the age of 13, escaping the horrors of civil war and threats of conflict due to political turmoil. He endured detention centres both back home and here in Australia, seeking refuge in Australia.

Against all odds, with the support of a Monash University and Humanitarian Scholarship, in 2022, Mathi completed a degree in astrophysics and mathematics from Monash University. Today, he passionately contributes to Australia's education and health sectors as a data analyst.

Yet, Mathi remains in limbo, separated from his family, the heart of his existence. The uncertainty of his future casts a heavy shadow on his mental well-being, and he misses his mum and dad daily while they struggle with their health.

We implore the authorities to recognise Mathi's intrinsic human dignity and grant him a path to citizenship, one that leads to the much-awaited family reunification. In doing so, Australia will uphold its values of compassion, fairness, and opportunity, while providing decency to Mathi that every human deserves.

Please sign this petition, standing alongside us as we advocate for Mathis chance at achieving the most fundamental of human rights - the right to live with dignity, love, and unity
