The UNRWA (UN agency for Palestinian refugees) released this photo on February 26, 2014 showing thousands of desperate Palestinian refugees queuing for food parcels at the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, Syria.

More than 18.000 men, women and children have been under siege since July 2013 in the devastated Yarmouk refugee camp. They are enduring very severe shortages of food, clean water, medicines, medical assistance and other bare essentials. Many are suffering from malnutrition and they are exposed to the spread of diseases. The continued fighting exposes them to injury and to death.

Attempts to deliver aid have been constantly hindered and often suspended for security reasons due to the on-going fighting in the Syrian civil war.

Tell UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban ki-Moon, that civilians should not be trapped in the fighting and must not be starved to death.

Ask UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban ki-Moon, to secure the safe and free access of humanitarian agencies to the Yarmouk refugee camp.
