Revoke parole for Stephanie Lopez NMCD Inmate #59941

Baby Brianna Mariah Lopez died on July 19, 2002 after suffering abuse by the hands of her mother Stephanie Lopez, her father Andy Walters, and an uncle Steven Lopez.

Stephanie Lopez was sentenced to 27 years in prison after being convicted by a jury of negligently permitting child abuse, resulting in death or great bodily harm. Autopsy findings revealed five month old Brianna had suffered "numerous human bite marks throughout her entire body, scraping and bruising injuries, extensive injuries to her head and fatal injuries to her brain, bleeding within membranes around the brain as well as the nerves around her eyes, indicating she had been violently shaken. Brianna's skull had 5-7 day old fractures in two places, on two different bones. Both old and new blood were present, indicating a previous injury to the brain. Brianna had two rib fractures that were weeks old upon her death. The baby also had bucket handle fractures on both thigh bones and a fracture on her left arm. Baby Brianna's anus and vagina were also injured."

Currently, Brianna is buried in a pauper's grave as no family members came forward to claim her body. She is buried underneath a cage to keep mourners away.

Stephanie Lopez is up for parole in September 2016. It is our duty as human beings to let it be known that the life of this child, or any child, is worth much more than a punishment of jail with the privilege of parole being granted in a few short years for good behavior as there are no children in prison to offend. Please sign this petition in an effort to keep Stephanie Lopez from being granted parole in 2016.

We, the people undersigned, call on the Governor of New Mexico, the New Mexico Parole Board and the President of the United States to make it known that we want to revoke eligibility of parole for Stephanie Lopez, instead requiring she serve all time sentenced for her part in the death of her child, Brianna Mariah Lopez.
