Demand the end of ICE Raids in Bensalem

This past week, ICE roundups in Creekside Apartments and surrounding have plagued our immigrant community of Bensalem. Yesterday, they blocked the entrances of the complex and took into custody 5 people, 3 on Monday and more on Wednesday. This is not the first time. Since the Trump administration it is a weekly occurrence here in Bensalem. The Immigrant community is living in constant fear. Fearful to leave their homes to go to work, to go to the doctors, to let the children outside to play! They are fearful of our police and are less likely to report crimes. With school starting in September they will be fearful to send them to class. The overly broad way these ICE raids are being conducted is making our community less safe and causing disproportionate harm by dividing the families of non-serious offenders and others who are of no threat and have been caught merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. These raids are sowing distrust, not just with ICE but even with local law enforcement, and that makes our community less safe.
A Banner saying "Bensalem is a No Hate Community" hangs in the township building while at the crack of dawn, families are separated and men, women and children are incarcerated for trying to make a living for their families. Our local elected officials turn their heads as not to see.

● Immigrant and refugee communities make Bensalem stronger
● Cities that welcome and protect immigrant communities are safer communities

We ask for our Mayor, Jospeh DiGirolamo to publically denounce these inhumane tactics and pass a proclamation that all immigrants, regardless of who they are or where they come from - whether citizen, immigrant, refugee, asylum seeker - everyone is equally deserving of dignity, welcome, and protection from harm in Bensalem.
