Remove the Royal Pension from this Crackpot

It is in the gift of Queen Elizabeth II to make payments, from the Civil List, to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to science. Beneficiaries of this award have included Faraday, Herschel, Heaviside and Hamilton.

However, the monarch is very unlikely to be able to judge the significance of scientific contributions and must therefore take the advice of various Royal Societies.

Such advice is sometimes ill-judged, and a mechanism should therefore be put in place for removing the award; just as a mechanism exists for the removal of a knighthood.

We, the undersigned, call upon the Royal Society of Chemistry and upon the Honours Forfeiture Committee of the UK Government severally to withdraw any support or advice which may have led the monarch to award a Civil List pension, and to remove that accolade from Dr Myron Wyn Evans: a scientist who persists in bringing that award and its symbolic meaning into disrepute by a) denigrating great British scientists such as Stephen Hawking, b) calling for CERN to be closed down for being a fraudulent organisation, c) providing dubious theoretical support for commercial frauds based upon ‘perpetual motion’ and ‘anti-gravity’ and by d) using legal threats and other means of intimidation to silence well-founded scientific criticism of his activities.
