To our Governor in Tallahassee, Florida, now's the time to reform the Department of Corrections. The Good Ol Boyz House of Horror is out of control.
We the people demend that all corrections officers wear body cameras to better document their encounters with inmates. There is no excuse for a corrections officer or anyone to torture and abuse a handcuffed and shackled inmate of any age, and of any color. In the wake of major media news reports of at lease 85 inmate deaths, 11 guards arrested, 32 employees fired, widespread brutality and cover ups from the top down (should I say more?) what the heck. A mentally ill inmate died after being forced to shower in scalding hot water, inmates gassed to death with chemical agents, and inmates beaten to death while handcuffed and shackled (I think you get the picture?). flagerlive.com/70314/guard-brutality-florida. The question of whether more technology should be implemended by the Department of Correction is a no brainer. The answer to that question is yes. The "Good Ol Boyz" state are a good 30 years behind the rest of the country. Florida catch up. I know you guys believe differently then the rest of us. Requiring prison guards to wear cameras and record their interactions every time an officer has contact with a prisoner is a postive step in the right direction. More importantly body cameras have already been adopted in hundreds of police department across the country. Be a game changer.
