It was a case of puppy love for Ali Fedotowsky and Katherine Heigl.
Fedotowsky, 29, teamed up with the "27 Dresses" actress and her mother, Nancy,
on Saturday to find a home for a puppy that she brought back from the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
The E! News host and Olympic correspondent got swept up by one of the adorable Sochi strays
and toted the precious cargo back to the United States, where the pooch could be adopted.
Fedotowsky named her canine companion, Adler, after one of the towns near Sochi,
and chronicled their Olympiad-sized journey home in a series of Instagram and Twitter posts.
After finding the pup at the PovoDog shelter she snapped a picture and explained her intentions.
"Got this little gal at a Sochi shelter. On my way to the vet to get her a health certificate
and passport so I can hopefully bring her back to the USA to be adopted.
I can't save them all, but I know someone in the states would love to have this little sweetheart!!!"
Later the pair picked up their passports and took a photo before their trek home.
She captioned the sweet snap, "We've got our passports
and we are coming home to America so this little love bug can be adopted!
So grateful I could save just one! Upon arriving at LAX, the former "Bachelorette" star was greeted by Heigl,
who offered to find a home for the dog through her charity, The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation
Heigl and her mother founded the organization in 2008 to honor Heigl's brother, Jason, 15,
who died tragically in a car accident in 1986. Their organization raises awareness
about the plight of animals and also helps place pets in loving homes.
The 35-year-old actress explained to People that adopting dogs from a foreign country was a first for their organization
and definitely raised some red flags.
"We haven't done this before. We haven't done a rescue from another country," Heigl said.
"I'm nervous for the dogs. It's an awfully long flight.
I'm hoping it's the beginning of the good life to come."
