As parents we send our children to school each and every day with the anticipation that they will be learning, growing and socilializing with their friends with out fear. We live in the world today where we need an extra step of protection for our school, teachers, administrators, staff and children.
We MUST as parents and guardians present a beginning to end this fear. The "turn your head to these issues" must stop!!! The "I don't know what to do to stop the problem" must stop!!!
We must put our children first and approach this head on. I want to open discussion with the SWSD district office and present this petition and the following showing them we as parents are coming together to help protect our children from this ongoing and worsening problem.
Outside of presentng this petition, I want to speak to them to adding a protection barrier if this would ever present itself in our schools. This item should be within arms reach of every door of every usable classroom. These can be purchased by either community contributions or other fundraising means.

These safety barriers add the security to our children and school in the event they are needed and keep our children safe in a locked room until help has arrived and it is secure for them to leave their classrooms.
If you would like to stand with me in showing the school district that our children's safety is our first priority and we want these purchased, please consider signing this petition and having our voices heard.
I know that there are many other avenues that can be taken and may be discussed as times goes on, but we HAVE to make a start and we must have parents join and the district involved. We MUST, first and foremost, take every single action to keep our children safe in the event of an emergency.
Furthermore if the district comes together on this, I will personally ingauge local businesses and community organizations to contribute to the cause to have it funded.
