A Step Towards Longer Hours for Superior Dining and the Food Court

  • recipient: UMD college students

We, college students of UMD, have all different types of schedules and eating habits. There are days where we are not able to eat dinner because we have a night class that goes past 8pm and the dining center is already closed by 7pm and only 1 option stays open in the Food Court after 7pm as well.

Most students depend on the dining center for all their meals and most times it's the only option we have. Our meal plans for each semester are quite pricey depending on which one is choosen.
- The 19 meal plan costs $1,828+$200 in dining dollars.
- The 14 meal plan costs $1,702+$200 in dining dollars.
- The 5 meal plan costs $679+$200 in dining dollars.

Obviously, this is a huge proposition to make and will take time for real action to happen, but maybe if we can get enough signatures and spark some talk on campus, we can actually make a change that could benefit all University of Minnesota Duluth college students including those who live off campus but stay on campus into the late hours.
