Demand CT lawmakers pass proposed humane euthanasia for animals bill (2013 HB 5202)

The sad fact is that due to human negligence 4-6 million dogs will be euthanized this year in the United States. Many of these dogs will be put to death in incredibly barbaric gas chambers; dozens at a time, crammed into tiny, dark, stainless steel boxes. The last few seconds of their lives will be spent in terror, gasping for breath. To add further insult to this atrocity after the first batch of dogs die the chamber will be opened and more dogs, many of which are still puppies, will be thrown in on top of the still warm bodies and the horror will begin a new.

As a "civilized" society we should be repulsed by this inhuman act. I call upon all people, pet lovers or not, to sign this petition urging the Connecticut General Assembly to pass proposed House Bill 5202 (2013 session). The bill calls for all animal euthanasia to be performed by a licensed vet in a humane manner. I'd also call on everyone outside the state to contact their local representatives and urge the passage of similar laws.

We can't save them all, but let's at least give these poor, unloved animals the dignity in death they never had in life.

Thank you
