Biodiversity has an important role; it boosts the ecosystem’s productivity. Each species depends on other species to survive and so do we. If we don’t preserve this diversity, it can eventually lead to extinction. Currently, extinction rates are going up rapidly caused by human activities. Habitat loss, overexploitation, climate change, pollution and spread of non-native species is causing this loss of biodiversity. Most of our medical discoveries come from plants and animals as well as helping out with ecological services. Without biodiversity, Earth wouldn’t be livable. We HAVE to protect them! Our government has to make this a priority.
