MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION IN MISSOURI

Missouri, who would’a thunk it! Missouri, the ‘Show Me’ state, is slated to have a ballot initiative in 2012 providing for the full legalization of marijuana. The petition, for which people are currently gathering signatures, would place a constitutional amendment on the 2012 ballot. The amendment will allow marijuana to be regulated the same as alcohol. The petition, called the ‘Show Me Cannabis Initiative’, would make marijuana legal for those over 21. Marijuana would be sold in stores licensed by the state and could also be grown at home for personal use. Medical marijuana would be available for those under 21 with a doctor’s recommendation, supervision and parental consent. The state would tax retail sales at $ 100.00 a pound. This would also revive the hemp industry in the state. Only 150,000 signatures are needed to be turned in before May 6, 2012 for the initiative to be on the ballot
