We started this group to raise some awareness of the need for animal control officers to have longer hours of operation in the state of Utah. I can't tell you how many times I have stopped for a dog somewhere at night, Hell even at 5:00 pm, and been told that there are no animal control officers available until the morning. They give the public limited options and limited work schedules and make it hard for concerned citizen's to do the right thing. As a dog owner and animal lover, losing one of my pup's was something that some people might compare to losing family. Our Little Leo and Elton disappeared after a traumatic day due to a certain person wreaking havoc in our lives at about 9:00 Pm , we were out of luck. The only thing we could do was search without sleep for almost 32 hours running on the random phone call's of sightings and following them. Animal Control was never involved. We finally got a call from our Vet where we had posted flyer's, that Leo had been hit and brought into their office. He didn't make it. He was only a kid. An hour later, Elton was brought into the same vet, had been hit but he survived. This was devastating, as any true dog lover can imagine. The point that I'm trying to get across is this : If there were Animal Control Officers Available throughout the night, I feel that we could have found them faster, and maybe Leo would have made it out alive.
