We, the undersigned, call on the Anderson County, Texas District Attorney%u2019s Office to take action to protect the children referenced in the Anderson County Sheriff%u2019s Office Cases Numbered 0609287, 0704734, and 0704795. In Case Number 0609287, the female child (date of birth 08/31/1994) and male child (date of birth 10/26/2001) were victims of violations which fall under Texas Penal Code 22.04(a)(2), Texas Penal Code 22.04(b)(1), and Texas Penal Code 22.041(c). In Case Number 0704734, the male child (date of birth 10/26/2001) has been the victim of a violation which at the very least falls under Texas Penal Code, Chapter 21 Sexual Offenses, Section 21.11 Indecency With A Child. In Case Number 0704795, the male child (date of birth 10/26/2001) has been the victim of violations which fall under Texas Penal Code 22.041(c).
According to the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, %u201Csexual abuse has many forms and may be so subtle that the child doesn%u2019t even know it is happening. A vast majority of child sexual abuse incidents are never reported to the authorities. Child abuse remains one of the most underreported crimes because children are afraid to tell anyone what has happened.%u201D These two (2) children have been courageous enough to report what has happened to them. The crimes against these two (2) children have been reported to the Anderson County Sheriff%u2019s Office and Child Protective Services, and by our signatures below, we request action to be taken by the Anderson County District Attorney%u2019s Office against the adult male (date of birth 11/29/1972) named by the victims and witnesses.
The attached Appendix %u201CA%u201D is an excerpt from the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault which can be located online at www.taasa.org. The ending point reads %u201C5) The reaction of the parents or other important people around the child %u2013 children need to know that their loved ones believe them and will reassure and protect them from future abuse.%u201D It is virtually impossible for these children%u2019s mother and step-father to protect these children if you do not prosecute these cases against the adult male (date of birth 11/29/1972) named by the victims and witnesses.
