Reinstatement of offsite adoption coordinator Caitlyn Townsend

Caitlyn Townsend has been a leader amongst the community in the re-homing of companion pets through countless efforts such as:

  • Starting the Facebook page Happy Homes, back in August 2010(http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Happy-Homes/213418042034280) which is dedicated to saving, helping and improving the lives of animals throughout the Tri county area.
  • She has worked with local veterinary clinics to get donations of medical supplies such as Parvo vaccinations to give to Columbus Animal Control to help prevent disease outbreaks and to persuade local Vet clinics to host discounted spay/neuter days for the community.
  • She has spent every Saturday going down to Columbus Animal Control and pulling animals off Death Row to take to Offsite Adoption Events. She is directly responsible for well over 60 saved lives through her Offsite Adoption efforts, as well as raising public awareness about the available Death Row animals.

While Columbus GA City Official refuse to comment publicly, Caitlyn was verbally told that it is due to the postings made by the PUBLIC on Happy Homes, that Animal Control did not like.

The city apparently does not like to be questioned by the public as to how they function. This is direct violation of freedom of speech and should not be tolerated.

Please join us and support this petition to DEMAND that she be reinstated to her non paid volunteer position, so that she may continue to save hundreds of lives in the Columbus GA area.

For every Saturday that Offsite Adoptions are not held, 5-6 pets lives will be needlessly lost that could've been prevented with Caitlyn's volunteering.
