I chose my husband because he not only shared things in common with me, but he also "passed my requirements",....a love of animals, all of God's creatures, NO hunting, NO fishing, etc., etc.It is not necessary in today's society to hunt, all you need to do is go to the grocery store, or become a vegetarian!! If you live in a uncivilized, isolated, remote area, and your "survival" depends on hunting for food, that would be the ONLY "excuse".Oh yeah, if we didn't kill off all of our natural predators, we wouldn't have the "problem" of deer over-population, or if we didn't "barge in" and take over their habitats, they wouldn't be "invading" our neighborhoods and yards!!

Why is it that hunting is so important in the US? Do men feel that they have to prove their masculinity by chasing and abusing animals? For what? It's time this abhorrent behaviour stopped. since humans decided to settle into communities and no longer be hunter gatherers, I have always wondered why some still feel the need to hunt for food. Some say that the animals in the wild have lived their whole lives there and never been fed drugs like cattle or sheep have. Animals sent to slaughter live miserable lives and there is a longer time delay between life and death. In some ways I can see the logic to that belief. The only way hunting could be stopped is to allow only predators to control herd levels and convince the hunters to change their hearts and minds towards our place in the scheme of things. In other words-respect for all living creatures and what place they have in the environment and what we can learn from them.
