Stop the horrible bile-milking of Chinas bears!

One of China's largest producers of bear-bile, the Gui Zhen Tang Pharmaceutical Company, has traditionally been unmoved by animal welfare issues.

Bear-farming, which involves milking the greenish bear bile for use in everything from hair regrowth shampoos, to bear-wine virility tonics and haemorrhoid cures is desperately cruel.
The practice leaves the bears chained in cages with weeping and infected wounds for so long their limbs stunt and buckle.
Last year The Telegraph visited a run-down bear farm in Weihai, eastern China where 10 bears were being rescued by Animals Asia and saw shocking scenes of cruelty and neglect.   However while the total number of bear farms has diminished in recent years in China, the number of bears being farmed has actually risen as bigger, more commercial enterprises meet a rising demand from China's new middle classes.
