orang utan

The Orang-utan with its strength, luminous intelligence and beauty, must come at the top of the list of the world’s great ape. This magnificent creature is on the edge of extinction, fewer than 60,000 remain in the wild and only in the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. An estimate 5,000 are lost every year. The biggest threat to the Orang-utan is the destruction of forest habitat, due to the spread of plantations for palm oil. It is not hard to foresee out that the Orang-utan could be extinct within 12 years. We have to tell Indonesian Government to do something to protect this precious creature.
