Dr. Nichole A Danova, owner of Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic and/or Debbie Stezar, president of One Life to Live Pet Rescue & Adoption, Inc, let me PAY for Mia's surgery and medical care and let Mia come back home.

Mia is our baby, she is a 3 years old standard poodle, we got her when she was 8 weeks old.

The day of her 3rd Birthday, Wednesday, April 29 at 1:30 pm Mia went right through my screen door bolting after a yellow lab across the street. A car hit her, I ran to help her, she was screaming and crying, Mia was hurt.

We rushed her to our vet, the vet gave her a shot for pain and put a bandage, she told us it was serious and to take her to Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic in Clarks Summit because they had the tools to save her.

Once we arrived to Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic, the Dr. said if they could fix Mia's leg it would be around $4,000 but she wasn't sure if her leg was going to be savable yet.

The second time the Dr. came and said Mia's leg was broken in 3 different places and her foot was crushed, they would need to amputate her rear right leg.

I was given an estimated bill that ranged from low end of $2,388.39 to the high end of $3,226.24.

I didn't have that kind of money, I applied for Pet Care Credit and I was turned down. The clinic wanted $1,800 at the moment to get Mia into surgery and I didn't have it.

I begged them to take payments directly out of my checking account but they did not accept it. I didn't know what to do and asked what my other options were, they told me to either put her down or relinquish her over to the clinic. I was devastated, but I couldn't put her down!!! I love her too much, I wanted Mia to have a second chance at life.

This was very difficult me, I choose life for Mia and I signed the paper to relinquish her to Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic in order to save her life. It took me 20 min just to sign my name, I was crushed, I feel like I turned my back on her.

On Friday, May 1st, I was able to get the money to pay for her treatment, after watching my pain, a good friend borrowed the money from her retirement account and and gave it to me to pay for Mia's care.

As soon as I got the money, I called Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic, they told me I had no rights to Mia!

On Monday, May 4th I called again Veterinary Referral Emergency and asked to speak to the owner, she was in surgery so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager told me I had not rights to Mia.

I found out Mia was in the care of One Life to Live Rescue. I called the rescue and asked if they had a Standard Poodle and she said yes! They said they had a loving family to adopt her and the adoption won't be legal until Mia was released by the vet.

I do not want anything free, I want to pay for Mia's surgery, I ask Dr. Nichole A Danova or Debbie Steza (whoever has ownership of Mia), to let me pay for Mia's care and out of the kindness of their hearts, to let Mia come home to celebrate her 3rd Birthday and many more with our family.

I sent a letter to Dr. Nichole A Danova, the owner of Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic. On May 8th, after reciving my letter, the office called me to tell me that Mia's ownership was already transfered to One Life to Live Rescue, but when my daugther contacted Debbie Stezar from One Life to Live Pet Rescue & Adoption, she told her that all questions about Mia's ownership should be addressed to Veterinary Referral Emergency Clinic.

Please help me bring Mia home, let me pay for her surgery, I can pay now, I will be forever thankful for your kindness and compassion and for saving Mia’s life.

I am reaching out to you, I am asking for your help and understanding.

I surrendered Mia to Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center on April 29, 2015. The reason for the surrender is that I could not afford to pay for her emergency surgery and I wanted so much for her to live. I made the ultimate sacrifice to save my dog's life instead of the only other choice that I was given; which was euthanasia.

I am sure that if you have owned an animal that is as special to myself and my children as Mia, you would have made the same choice I made in order to save Mia's life.

After I left Mia, I went everywhere looking for money, which was very hard for me to do. However, at the present time, I am able to pay you for Mia's surgery and care, if you send me the invoice, I will pay it off.

I appreciate all of the hard work that it has taken to save Mia's life, I am and always will be very thankful for your help. I am asking you to please allow me to pay the money and bring Mia back home. Once again we will always be thankful for this act of kindness and your help to Mia and her/our family.

Our family is crushed, we love Mia and we will always take care of her, we are willing to share with you everything that we are doing for the care we will be giving and have given Mia during her life with us.

If you ever loved a dog to the point of being able to letting someone else have it in order to save its life, you would understand my pain. I was willing to live with this pain, but having the money available to pay for Mia's care gives us hope we can bring her back home.

Please help us bring Mia back, I am willing to meet you and pay for all the bills and all expenses for Mia's care.

Sincerelly,

We just found out 2 impotant details:
1) Mia was placed for adoption with a family days after her surgery, even after they knew we were willing to pay for her surgery, the rescue said " Being a highly desirable breed, Mia was placed in a loving home shortly after we took her into the rescue"
2) Mia's leg was not amputated, her right tibia and fibula bones were repaired!
