Stop Elephant Performance in India!

India's reputation for animal welfare and vegetarianism is lauded worldwide. It's surprising, then, that the country continues to use elephants in circuses.

Today, it is common knowledge that forcing elephants to perform tricks goes against their nature, and trainers often use cruel means to force them into submission. Numerous countries already ban elephants in their circuses, including Austria, Mexico, Greece and over a dozen others. India has banned bears, monkeys, tigers, panthers and lions from their circuses, but not elephants.

Elephants are highly social animals who bond with their family members. India's circus elephants endure lives of suffering. When they aren't performing frightening, painful tricks, they are chained up and unable to see other members of their families.

Please sign the petition to urge India to ban the use of elephants in their circuses and other performance venues!

I am shocked that India continues to use elephants in circuses. I believe this goes against the country's reputation for high animal welfare standards.
