Pit Bulls Euthanized by Humane Society of Southern Illinois‏

It has come to the attention of Southern Illinoisans Against BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) that the Humane Society of Southern Illinois has a policy to euthanize pit bulls who have no known owner because from "They feel there is too much liability in adopting out Pit Bull dogs".

While the town allows bit bull type dogs...if a pit bull ends up at the Humane Society of Southern Illinois and no owner is found, the dog will be euthanized because "They feel there is too much liability in adopting out Pit Bull dogs".

We need to RESPECTFULLY educate this organization, advocate for our pibble babies and try to get this practice turned around.

I have already contacted the Humane Society of the US (who I ASSUME they are affiliated with) to report this practice which goes against HSUS codes.

I have also contacted local media in hopes to shed some light on this.

Here is the contact information for the HS of Southern Illinois:

95 Humane Rd, Murphysboro, IL 62966
(618) 457-2362

again...stay CIVIL and RESPECTFUL or all our efforts are for not...and we'll end up doing more damage than good!
