Protect Long Island Sound From Dredge Waste!

New York state has spent billions of taxpayer dollars cleaning up Long Island Sound. The sound is now the beautiful natural resource that it was always meant to be.

So why does the United States Environmental Protection Agency want to turn it into a dumping site for dredged waste from Connecticut?

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is understandably worried as are the thirty other elected officials who signed his letter demanding the EPA make a better choice for disposing of dredged waste. Cuomo cited the obvious ecological destruction that would follow such a plan as well as the loss in tourist dollars if the sound should once again become polluted. Please join me in asking the EPA not to dump waste in the Long Island Sound.

Dear Environmental Protection Agency:

I understand that you have a difficult job to do and that Connecticut's waste has to go somewhere. However, dumping one state's dredged crap on another state is not an acceptable solution. New York has spent billions cleaning up its sound. It has done so not just for the increase in tourism, but also because the Long Island Sound is a beautiful and important natural resource. Please desist from your plan to turn the Long Island Sound into a dumping ground.
