Legalization Of Anabolic Steroids Under Doctor Supervision.

Anabolic Steroids and their negative side effects have been vastly blown out of proportion by the media. Athletes who are serious about accomplishing goals in their sports be it Bodybuilding, Fitness Modeling, Football, Sprinting, Basketball, Swimming and the list goes on train and push themselves harder than any other human being on the planet. Anabolic Steroids enhance muscle recovery and allow the athlete to repair faster so that they can train harder.

According to Drugs.com Steroid side effects can include “
Severe acne, oily skin and hair
Hair loss
Liver disease, such as liver tumors and cysts
Kidney disease
Heart disease, such as heart attack and stroke
Altered mood, irritability, increased aggression, depression or suicidal tendencies
Alterations in cholesterol and other blood lipids
High blood pressure
Gynecomastia (abnormal development of mammary glands in men causing breast enlargement)
Shrinking of testicals “

Now before you think BAD! STEROIDS! ARE BAD! I'd like you to look at the side effects of second hand smoke.

According to cdc.gov “
Secondhand smoke causes nearly 34,000 premature deaths from heart disease each year in the United States among nonsmokers.4
Nonsmokers who are exposed to secondhand smoke at home or at work increase their risk of developing heart disease by 25–30%.1
Secondhand smoke increases the risk for stroke by 20−30%.4
Secondhand smoke exposure causes more than 8,000 deaths from stroke annually.4
“About 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year–that’s 1 in every 4 deaths.”

Any doctor you go to could minimize the side effects of steroids drastically. Those who see liver problems and heart problems from anabolic steroids are people who are taking extraordinarily high doses and under doctor supervision this would be much less of an issue. According to web developer and programmer Brian Hildebrandt there are many positives to having increased amounts of testosterone in your body which he states are “
Well-being (reduction in depression and mild euphoria)
Confidence (reduced social anxiety and greater assertiveness)
Energy improvements and greater work capacity
Motivation (greater ambition)
Sex drive/libido and response times heightened (shorter refractory period)
Concentration (greater ability to complete complex mental tasks)
Strength and muscle mass increases
Body fat reduction and higher basal metabolic rate”

Under doctor supervision the side effects that you will receive from taking Anabolic Steroids is less than second hand smoke inhalation or drinking alcohol and can be compared to the side effects of ADHD medication which according to rxlist.com can cause “
fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeats;
feeling like you might pass out;
fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
aggression, restlessness, hallucinations, unusual behavior, or motor tics (muscle twitches);
easy bruising, purple spots on your skin; or
dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure).”
. The unfortunate reality is that many athletes have to go under the radar and risk getting arrested for simply wanting to further their bodies capabilities of muscle building and recovery. Anabolic Steroids are legal in many places across the globe such as Mexico and Thailand. All across America people are allowed to legally purchase tobacco and expose innocent lives to second hand smoke and go get drunk at a bar and drive on the road risking the health and well being of others. With Anabolic Steroids you are not harming anyone else or yourself under doctor supervision. You currently need a medical reason to be prescribed Testosterone from your local pharmacy however you don't need one to go and grab a pack of Cigarettes. The concept that you are "cheating" when you take Anabolic Steroids is entirely false. You have to work even harder when you take Anabolic Steroids because they allow your body to recover and repair faster. Hard work is never cheating and athletes who are willing to put in the hard work and do what it takes deserve to win.

We live in a society where people associate negative aspects to steroid use and then go and gobble down a big mac for dinner even though heart disease is the leading cause of death among Americans and poor eating habits will not help out one bit. A common stereotype amongst people who choose to use anabolic steroids is that you will get man-boobs and that your balls will shrink. These side effects are easily avoidable under doctor supervision. Some common medications people take to ensure this does not happen are Clomid and Arimidex. Second hand smoke is much more of a concern because you can't go to your doctor and get rid of the side effects it puts your body through as you can with AAS-Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids.

According to cdc.gov “Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States, including nearly 42,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. This is about one in five deaths annually, or 1,300 deaths every day.”
“On average, smokers die 10 years earlier than nonsmokers. “

Through my research I could not find one single case of a person who died from the use of AAS-Anabolic Androgenic Steroids alone. There have been people who used steroids and died while taking them but they had nothing to do with the cause of death, for example one guy got hit by a train. There is so much evidence pointing towards the fact that steroids are not NEARLY as bad as people attempt to make them out to be and yet we have millions of Americans flooding clean air with second hand smoke and driving drunk. Please sign the petition to legalize AAS use under doctor supervision.
