The Dangers of Peanuts and Peanut Allergies

  • recipient: I, Meghan Price believe that all peanuts and peanut products should be banned from the Hopewell High school property and/or inside the Hopewell High school buildings.
When I was four years old (2005), my sister Gina Marie hunt died from anaphylaxis shock, caused by silverware contamination. My sister was allergic to peanuts and had succesfully avoided them for the fourteen years of her life. Although avoided her allergen was terturous and entailed sitting alone at a different part of the lunchroom everyday, she did what she had to ,knowing that any sense of peanuts would take her life. Well, January 22, 2005, her allergy did just that. My sister was at Concord Mills, with one of her freinds, and my grandma and cousin nearby shopping. She went into a CHinese food resturaunt, and oredered an eggroll. What she did not know is that the silverware they had given her contained traces of peanut oil on them. As she ate she suffered anaphlyactis shock and her throat swelled shut so she could not breathe, everything possible was done, but after working on her for several hours, the doctors had pronouced her dead. I ask you to sign your name below, showing your support for the ban of products on campus and/or indoors at Hopewell High school.
