Stand against Trump's travel ban. Sign the petition in support of the DV lottery (Green Card Lottery) winners.
We, the Diversity Lottery (DV) winners of fiscal year 2017 from Iran as well as other Visa applicants in different categories from the other five countries (Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Libya and Somalia), have been barred entry to the United States since June 29, 2017 by President Trump’s Executive Order (E.O. 13780). We would like to state our serious objection against the sections 8 and 9 of E.O. 13780 which refers to the DV-2017 winners and according to the following arguments, we believe that these sections, 8 and 9, of “travel ban 13780” would cause significant damage to DV-2017 winners in particular. Based on the fact that it takes almost 17 months from when the results are out to September 30, and as E.O 13780 affects most of the DV-2017 winners, we request the authorities to consider our following concerns:
1- Regarding the limited time ahead, creating a bona fide relationship with a U.S entity is, in fact, impossible, taking into account the long time required to receive a job offer or a university admission.
2- If the DV lottery winners had known the DV lottery regulations would be changed in this critical 90-day period, they would never have filled in DS-260 and 5535 forms and would not have risked their emotional health.
3- As the deadline for DV lottery 2017 is close and it coincides with E.O 13780 suspension termination date (September 27, 2017), the DV-2017 winners are practically the only category among all categories who are affected /damaged seriously by this E.O. and lose the chances for obtaining Visa.
Now, with respect to the concerns stated above, we request the government to exclude the DV category 2017 from the E.O. This letter has been written and shared by some of the DV lottery winners from Iran or other countries who have been affected by this E.O. We hope our voices are heard by the respective authorities and lead to some revisions in the E.O. in favor of DV-2017 winners.
