p>There has been a common practice of trafficking young women in Argentina for the purpose of sexual exploitation, creating a huge fear and concern for all females in the country.  It seems disturbing but the facts show that there are still more than 77,000 people are still trapped in slavery in this country.  Read some info at http://www.walkfree.org/stop-violence-against-women/?utm_source=Subscribers&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=stop-violence-against-women&utm_content=VAW-Argentina-EN_ELA_Petition_Chaser_en_Prospect_Ex_23Oct15

Vulnerable women seem to be a target of trafficking and sexual exploitation.  The President of the National Council of Women is working diligently to help women throughout Argentina by pushing to release the National Action Plan but it is still in limbo.  We are extending our help and support for all the females of this country through the implementation of this Plan in protecting the victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation and various forms of violence.

The attached story highlights the example of a woman who came to Argentina for a career promised her, yet she was the victim of trafficking for sexual exploitation.  If the National Action Plan was to be in effect, victims like this woman would be protected from gender-based violence.  Yet the Plan has never been publicly released and put into effect.

Our petition is an attempt to help the women of the country get the protection they need and deserve by asking for the immediate implementation of the National Action Plan with full enforcement of the governments’ existing Laws on Violence against Women.  You can help these women by signing and sharing this petition.

Current President-Elect of Argentina – We are urging you to be more diligent in protecting the women of your country.  Enforce your government laws opposing Violence against Women that also identifies the victims and gives them the help they need.  These laws are also designed to prevent gender-based trafficking and sexual exploitation.  Implementing the National Action Plan through its public release is also necessary in helping the women of Argentina.  Please take urgent measures now and stop these gender-based crimes against women.
