Demand Blue Mountains council rethink Glenbrook Park plan

  • by: Mandy E

The Blue Mountains Council (BMC) is claiming they are just "reconfiguring Glenbrook Park".
BMC claim their proposals are beneficial but the country village square community atmosphere which is the draw for tourists and locals alike, will be gone. Up to 7 in 10 Healthy 100-600 year old trees will be lopped for car parks! History - trees planted and cared for by local indigenous peoples will be sacrificed to accommodate passing tourists on their way to Katoomba! A bund (embankment) will be built taking away playing fields, affecting young students and athletes as they will have to cross the busy highway. The stable and beautiful permaculture will also be irretrievably impacted. This change is driven by the short term vision of business profitability at the expense of local beauty, comfort and ambience as well as displacing local students, athletes and residents shopping availability. Blue Mountains Council please put your constituents and the local environment first and save our history.
Please sign this petition to stop the Blue Mountains Council from removing our trees! You can also contact the Blue Mountains Council at: council@bmcc.nsw.gov.au or (02) 4780 5555 or locked bag 1005 Katoomba NSW 2780

Thank you for caring before it's too late🌿

Please urgently reassess the Glenbrook park plans to preserve the village mountain environment which is why tourists visit rather than turning it into a generic suburban environment that can be found anywhere!

Preserve the country village square community atmosphere which is the draw for tourists and locals alike.

Care for the Healthy 100-600 year old trees rather than lopping them for car parks and a bund for a unlikely flood !

History and environment lost as ancient trees planted and cared for by local indigenous peoples for generations will be sacrificed to accommodate passing tourists on their way to Katoomba! The bund will be built taking away playing fields, affecting young students and athletes as they will have to cross the busy highway. The stable and beautiful permaculture will also be irretrievably impacted.

We believe this  change is driven by the short term vision of business profitability at the expense of local beauty, comfort and ambience as well as displacing local athletes and residents shopping availability.

Blue Mountains Council please put your constituents and the local environment first and save our history before it's too late🌿
