What If It Was Your Child?

School Districts in South Carolina are among the worst in the country. Ranking dead last at number 50/50 in education and 41/50 for crime and corrections. Schools in South Carolina are down playing, denying or just not listening when it comes to drugs, weapons and violence inside schools. Students are being caught with drugs, weapons, making threats and the punishment is not expulsion like the codes and laws states. No the punishment is a few days out of school. Even for those repeat offenders. Parents are been kept in the dark and students afraid to tell because of the retaliation they will face if found out. Kids have come home with busted lips, death threats, even hospitalized in some cases while the school takes no accountability nor action. The school districts are no help in the matter. At what point in the chain of command is the decision made to cover things up, hide and deny things to parents? Is it for the sake of keeping the funding flowing? Are they just another pretty penny? We all saw the FL shooting, and because of it our news reports our claims are over reacted. Our schools claim we have no worries. Our police claim their hands are tied. Teachers bound by laws. We are forced by law to send our children to school or face jail. Our education system should be forced by law to protect our children, act accordingly by laws and codes. Who is going to look out for our children if we don't, them? Can you wake up tomorrow to that phone call or text like the FL parents and able to forgive yourself for knowing what you are sending your kids into just because you think you have to? I can't. I won't. While parents should be more involved in there children's lives and home life should be changed in some cases the schools and district should also be held accountable. The government (32/50) should be held accountable. We can't even afford safe buses for our children much less a safe school. Everyone has a roll to play, something to change but who is going to make them? You are, by signing this petition to demand the schools and districts involved in this matter be held accountable. To demand a full investigation into schools with these complaints. Demand that your child be AND feel safe or be kept home where they can be without legal repercussions. To demand that the faces of tomorrow have more funding in educational matters. How can they have everything they need when we rank bottom on that as well. What will our children think of us when they are running this world? Will they think we didn't care because we didn't try?? Will they look up to us because they know we did everything we could for them?? Please, I urge you to stand beside me and join us in the fight for our children to be given the opportunity at education free from emotional and physical warfare and torment. After all if we don't stand and fight for our children, tell me, just exactly who will?
