Urge Lutsk Zoo reunite Nastia bear cub with mum

  • by: Ela Vasvary

Ukraine, Euro 2012 host, should be ashamed of the abuses on animals taking place in the country.

Lutsk Zoo has just sold a four-month old female bear cub, called Nastia to an animal trader to be used as a photo model for tourists.

Considering:

- that the way the cub is snatched from her mother and forced into a much too small transport box can be deamed brutal (see the shocking video footage http://www.four-paws.org.ua/ukraine/en/project-ukraine/bear-rescues-in-ukraine/four-paws-uncovers-illegal-bear-trade-in-ukraine/)

- the distress the animals felt was terrible

- the fact that no mother should be separted from her sibling

I ask you to assist Vier Pfoten NGO in locating, rescuing and reuniting the estranged cub.

Your Honour, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources,

We bring to your attention the following case: the Zoo in Lutsk was found to sell bear cubs for entertainment and one such instance occured recently, at the end of June, with a bear cub called Nastia, that was unrightfully too early separated from her mother, and that too for an unjust reason: to entertain tourists. This piece of news travelled around the whole globe and made the frontlines in the media for several days.

We are concerned by the serious issues environment, namely biodiversity, is suffering in all European countries, that's why we want to stand by you and help stop any harmful practices.

You have the authority to intervene in this case and assist & protect the "Vier Pfoten" NGO in reuniting Nastia, the estranged cub, with her mother. Please do so.

Thankfully,

the undersigned
