Just Say "NO!!" To Siskiyou-Plus Bear Hunt This October, 2014

On this June 6th, 2014, ODFW will vote on a proposal to drastically increase bear hunting in one tiny areo of South West Oregon by 270 tags.
With no opportunity for public scrutiny and no environmental impact studies, this is an idea proposed by timber interests who justify it because "It might help timber harvest a bit."
The timing of this hunt (April 1st thru May 31st) coincides with emergence of bears with new cubs, and pressure from the hunt will result in orphaned, starving cubs falling prey to predation.
Further, the disruption of the existing interactions of bears with other predators and the potential for mor problems has not been studies at all.
In fact, there has been no study of the plan at all and no opportunity for communities affected to be part of the process.
We the undersigned call for no increase in bear tags for our community, we call for no underhanded sneaky plan by timber interests to co-opt the political process for our communities.
