Tell Indiana to Reject Transphobic "Pay to Pee" Bill!

A new bill could criminalize transgender people for using the bathroom, and could punish them with a jail sentence up to 1 year and a fine up to $5,000 dollars.

Republican Senator Jim Tomes introduced SB 35, which would prohibit schools from letting transgender students use the bathroom that matches their gender, and would force all transgender people to use public restrooms according to the sex assigned to them at birth, even if their gender identity is different.

Transgender people who do not use bathrooms that match the sex assigned to them at birth would risk committing a "single sex public facility trespass," classified as a Class A misdemeanor.

This new bill would force schools to discriminate against transgender students who already face bullying. It also would cause transgender persons extreme discomfort when faced with using a public restroom. Please sign the petition to urge Indiana legislators to reject SB 35!

We, the undersigned, are concerned about a new bill that could criminalize transgender people for using the bathroom, and could punish them with a jail sentence up to 1 year and a fine up to $5,000 dollars.

As you know, Senator Jim Tomes recently introduced SB 35, which would prohibit schools from letting transgender students use the bathroom that matches their gender, and would force all transgender people to use public restrooms according to the sex assigned to them at birth, even if their gender identity is different.

We respectfully urge you to vote "no" on SB 35. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
