A video of poor Yupi suffering with the tremendous heat, trying to grasp for air. It's just heartbreaking...:

Target: Director of Morelia Zoo, the Municipal Mayor and Governor of Michoacan, Mexico Legislators.

Goal: To free Yupi the polar bear from brutal captivity in a Mexican zoo.

Yupi is a polar bear that was found in Alaska shortly after her mother died when she was only two months old. She lives in a former grizzly bear enclosure where the environment is completely opposite of her natural habitat. The enclosure is made of all cement and it is in Mexico where the climate is much warmer than her home in Alaska. Polar bears have extremely thick coats and thick blubber to protect them from the cold so they are susceptible to overheating. Yupi is currently living in Morelia, which is in the tropical climate of central Mexico.

Yupi is kept in an even smaller enclosure for 17 hours each day, this pen is dark and barren. Polar bears need to be kept in environments that are akin to their natural environments if they must be held in captivity at all. Yupi has been kept in captivity in Mexico since 1992, it is time that she is freed to her natural habitat, or at least a more humane environment. There is a polar bear rehabilitation center in Ontario that is willing to take proper care of her and hopefully someday free her to Alaska, her true home. There is no doubt that Yupi is being deprived of her basic needs in the concrete prison she inhabits, she deserves a chance to live the rest of her life in comfort and peace.
