Give former President Barack H. Obama an Honorary Street

For 8 years we watched as Barack Obama not only guided our nation through challenging times with grace and dignity, but made significant improvements to many of the problems we faced when he took office. To name only a few of his many accomplishments, he lowered the unemployment rate, he provided health care to everyone, he lowered gas prices, and he found Osama Bin Laden after nearly a decade of a fruitless search. As his two term Presidency has now drawn to a close, I believe it would be a great honor to award him an honorary street in a place he has called home for many years.

President Obamas positive impact on our nation is undeniable, but the impact he left on Chicago and his home neighborhood of Hyde Park Kenwood surpasses that of any other. I therefore propose that the street upon which we bestow this honor be either East Hyde Park Boulevard or South Greenwood Avenue, as they represent not only the area surrounding his Chicago home, but also the border that binds Hyde Park and Kenwood into one greater community.

Please, join me in signing this petition to permanently honor the great efforts of Barack H. Obama, not only for the betterment or our nation and our city, but also for our south side community. Join me and support naming one of our main thoroughfares "Honorary Barack H. Obama Street" - Thank you.
