In 2011, VIA was denied the federal budget flexibility to accept the task of passenger services for the otherwise funded upgrade of E&N rail services on Vancouver Island; As a result, Island transportation options for passenger and freight are limited to a congested road network.
Likewise, there are a number of short line train services in Ontario that are seeking support for their growing need for renewed or more frequent passenger serivces, but VIA has been unable to do that on its very limited funding.
Therefore, we seek your support for this petition.

We will be writing to every federal candidate urging them to take note of the US report.
Please challenge your federal candidate on that matter. We want the next government to update Bill C-640.
