After the decision to ban captive animal performances was recently challenged
by the Attica Zoological Park, the Greek parliament has overwhelmingly voted in favor
of upholding the ban.The Zoological Park, which exhibits a wide variety of exotic animals,
had tried to convince members of the parliament
to amend the ban because such performances are “educational”.
Articles 12 and 13 of Greece’s animal protection Law 4039/2012
expressly forbids the use of animals in recreational games, exhibitions, artistic or entertaining events.
Way to go Greece, it is the first step, second one is to release all cetaceans back to the ocean.
