More Effort to Help Reduce Unwanted Homelessness and Help the Homeless

    Hi šŸ‘‹,
I am reading a book called ā€œHelping the Homelessā€ by Chaplain T.M Babcock. I have read about the how the foster care system in the USA can contribute to homelessness, violence against homeless people, the writer who was homeless with their family when they were young, couch surfing, a woman who was on drugs and was very unfortunate (before thankfully becoming more fortunate), a woman to whom homelessness was so stigmatised that she didnā€™t appear to want for herself to be described as homeless.
There are millions of homeless people across the world šŸŒ. Some of them are homeless due to drugs and/or alcohol, financial reasons, family reasons, violence, losing homes to disasters, not paying rent, being evicted, not paying other expenses, running away and probably other reasons. Unfortunately, there is great danger and suffering that comes with homelessness. Homelessness and itā€™s causes lead to great distress, physical suffering from illnesses and probably injuries. It also leads to great danger. Getting ran over, getting attacked, getting into prostitution, drugs, alcohol, the cold, the heat and the sun, illnesses and injuries and dangerous animals are just some of the possible dangers that homeless people face. Having to live and sleep outside in the cold šŸ„¶, rain ā˜”ļø and uncomfortable heat for much of the time must be very unpleasant for the homeless as well.
The animals with homeless people matter, too. They donā€™t want to go hungry, be unpleasantly cold/hot or not get better when ill/injured.
Drastic change NEEDS to happen for these people and animals.
Here are some things that I would suggest could be changed to make matters better for the homeless people, their animals and homelessness as an issue:
    * Change the foster care system for the better to help prevent and reduce homelessness, such as by providing education to the children and young people about housing, creating compassionate and ethical government programmes and projects to help as many of them as possible get appropriate and suitable places to call home.
    * Turn more unused, suitable buildings into homeless shelters, soup kitchens, charity shops for the homeless that also supply clothing and other supplies to the homeless, job centres for the homeless and needy and charity healthcare centres for the homeless and needy.
    * More effort to fight crime against the homeless.
    * More effort to reduce drug and alcohol problems for the homeless, such as by turning more unused, suitable buildings into compassionate rehabilitation centres and advice centres, more compassionate effort to help tackle drug and alcohol crime, more suitable education about the dangers of drugs and alcohol for children, young people and also adults who are not 16-30 by age.
    * Providing suitable sleeping shelters with beds šŸ› for homeless people and their animals.
    * More help for the animals who are with the homeless people, such as through food donations, veterinary charities, requiring all veterinary clinics, veterinary practices, shops and insurance companies to charge less or provide free services and products for the care and treatment of animals whose people can prove that they are genuinely homeless and providing water and food bowls and brushes for the animals who are with homeless people.
    * Providing more free water fountains for people, both homeless and those who are not homeless, with sustainable paper and other biodegradable cups.
    * Giving more funding to existing services and charities that benefit the poor and the needy.
    * Requiring that all homeless shelters and centres allow animals, providing that they are appropriately and suitably vaccinated, spayed/neutered, muzzled (if need be), and are safe/can be made and kept safe to be around the other people and animals there and are kept either in their peopleā€™s rooms and/or under the peopleā€™s close and ethical control at all times when at the shelters and centres. This could help the people as well as the animals, as some homeless people may not otherwise go into shelters/centres because they donā€™t want to have to give their animals up.
This list may grow and be edited as I learn more.
Whatever the governments are doing to help the homeless likely isnā€™t enough.
Please, please, please, please, please do everything that you can (ethically and safely) to help the homeless (both human and nonhuman).
May you, all the viewers, signers and sharers, all the homeless people and animals everywhere and all other sentient beings everywhere be perfectly well, healthy, happy and safe forever ā™¾.
Thank you šŸ˜Š to the moon šŸŒ’ (an extra special, good moon) and back.
    Best Wishes,
    Rory.
Have the best day and night ever!
