Bring Turf And Rubber Track To Handel Stadium

Dear Mr Matsuda,
We have pride in the athletic programs in our district. However we are petitioning to ask AUHSD to please convert Handel Stadium to artificial turf. Handel is the only stadium owned by the district, and it is the only field besides Glover that is still has natural grass field and cinder track. We would like to express how we feel theb necessity  to bring our stadium into the 21st century and change Handel Stadium to turf and a rubber track. A beautiful field such as that will be a source of pride for the students of Cypress, Kennedy, Magnolia, and Western. The cost can be offset by the absence of maintenance needed annually to refurbish the grass, and  the water required the keep the grass in shape.  A few weeks in to the football season after four teams have played games there the field conditions become full of holes and uneven surface creating a danger to our athletes.  Hhaving  a turf field would also be more durable during the graduation ceremonies each year. The rubber track would be easier on the runners on the district track teams, sparing their joints.  The rubber track would also be better our cheer squads, a fall on the cinder track as it is now is painful.

We ask you to consider this petition  and bring it up to the school board to see if we can effect a change on our stadium for the good.
