Demand the end of discrimination for police force applicants

In South Africa 🇿🇦 it is a requirement to have a senior certificate as well as have no visible tattoos in order to apply to become a police officer 👮🏻‍♀️, a metro-police officer and to enroll in the army.

However, our current police force is a disgrace in the sense that a majority of the officers are grossly over weight and an undisclosed number of them have criminal records as well as visible tattoos so why the new criteria.

Numerous videos have been posted on YouTube showing drunk police officers on duty as well as the inability to responsibly fire and possess a firearm, an army official having his gun stolen due to him being drunk and passed out while on duty and in uniform, with no consequences, so why are they restricting new enthusiastic applicants from having a chance to prove themselves in the line of duty and to improve our police and army force from the dismal institution it currently is?

We are aware that this does not apply to all officers in South Africa but unfortunately it does to the majority.

Even worse is that when calling our emergency line you get put on hold or the call just rings out.

So I ask why not allow more applicants regardless of whether they have a tattoo or whether they have a senior certificate? Let them apply, let them do the tests required and should they prove themselves worthy then let them serve their country.

Given the poverty in our country not all children can go to school or in fact finish because they have to work in order to help put food on the table and although everyone has a right to education, the lack of jobs is making it harder for families to provide and need everyone to work on order to eat.

To judge someone for having a tattoo and to think it speaks of their character is outdated and should not prevent you from getting a job, a job that one is passionate about and would improve your countries safety.

Please help set aside this ridiculous restriction and get the youth involved in helping make our country safe.
