NO TO HB49, CHANGES TO CHILDREN WITH MEDICAL HANDICAPS BENEFITS

Govenor Kasich and representatives are proposing budget cuts for the State of Ohio, and in the proposed budget they want TAto move The Children With Medical Handicaps Program (BCMH) to the Ohio Dept of Medicaid effective July 1st, 2017.

If this proposal goes into effect, it will impact approx 20,000 children and families in the State of Ohio. Many families will be unable to receive the necessary medical care needed for their children, ranging from everyday co-pays to diagnostics. This will also eliminate local resources and support.

We, as parents and communities want the proposed changes to The Children With Medical Handicaps to be reconsidered.

We as concerned parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and communities are pleading to Govenor Kasich and the Ohio Representatives to please leave BCMH in the Ohio Department of Health and not to move it to the Ohio Department of Medicaid..We are asking that other options be considered to find the funding that BCMH needs.  This program is a blessing and a necessity for so many families. The middle class especially, they do not make enough to provide everything on their own and don't qualify for goverment assistance.  Every single one of these children born with a disability deserves to be given a chance to have the highest quality of life possible.  They did not ask to be born the way they are.  We as parents and families should not have to choose to put food on the table or keep a roof over our heads or provide for our child.  With the proposed changes you will be forcing families to make the unthinkable decisions like to divorce, to change or quit jobs just to be able to provide for our children and qualify under the 225% FPL.

We are aking that you please vote NO TO THE CHANGES TO BCMH IN HB49.
