At first sight the mountain looks soft and fleecy. However, who looks at the video recording longer, recognises: These are fur leftovers and dead rabbits who pile up in a big garbage container somewhere in Spain. Over and over again the mountain moves quite easily. Under the corpses lie rabbits who were too small or thin for the breeding. Some still thrash about, others breathe only weakly. They would have survived the attempts to kill them with metal poles , reports the protection of animals organisation of Animal Equality. The rabbits would spend hours and sometimes even days on the garbage heap. Sometime they would succumb to her injuries.

Over and over again admissions of ill-treated animals from the fur industry appear. Mostly these are the ramshackle and blurred photos which were shot secretly and within short time. Where the fur of the ill-treated animals is processed, about that there are as a rule only speculations or surmises.

However, in the case of the rabbits videoadmissions and photo admissions from a two-year-old Undercover search of Animal Equality from 70 rabbit companies are given to TIME online in Spain. The coats from them do not land possibly in Chinese cheap parkas. In a secretly taken up scene an explosive connection becomes obvious. According to one of the most important Spanish fur traders, Curticub, the most important luxury companies of the world belong to the buyers of the farms: Brands like Burberry, Armani and Marc Jacobs.

Curticub is one of the big intertraders in the branch which fur buys up and in which fashion brands expel – according to the animal welfarists he has connections with 40 visited 70 companies. In each of the farms has been disowned against protection of animals laws, says Animal Equality. The Curticub boss seems to have been relatively exactly instructed by the luxury labels about the later application of the coats. To the animal welfarists who spent themselves as "a business partner" he said possibly: "We make this year white fur trimmings for Christian Dior, some with white spots on black reason. They are for hood sweaters and jackets for children." Dior appears on inquiry startled from the pictures from the breeding farms and explains, the enterprise uses no rabbit skin. The trader would not be known.
Fur trade booms

Though carrying of fur is considered unacceptable in Germany in many circles. Single traders like Otto, purchase country, C&A and S.Oliver undertake even to sell generally no textiles with real fur. However, worldwide there booms the business. The turnover with fur has shot up according to branch data between 2000 and 2010 about 70 percent upwards – on more than 14 milliard dollars. Above all the luxury labels do not want to renounce fur. Who puts down 4.795 euros with Burberry, agrees, for example, a "jacket from rabbit skin with cashmere feed". The origin is openly given: "100 percent of breeding rabbit hair, Spain". Under which circumstances these jackets are made,

There are not uniform rules for the protection of the fur animals in Europe. The Council of Europe has delivered merely recommendations – every country can move them, however, this must not act. Quite general are the rules for animals whose meat should be eaten, less strictly than for fur animals, explains Susanne Kolb-Wachtel, the manager of the German fur institute. It represents the interests of the branch. "What we eat, can be tormented a little bit more, than that what we carry." Kolb quail laughs in the phone when she says this.

The maximum criticism which the lobbyist about the Spanish rabbit holders can wring herself: "Of course this is in the head a simple farmer." However, in Spain many farmers are poor and would make for money before the camera also something, she states. Some pictures are put. Animal Equality rejects this.
No harmlessness label

Rabbits are valid in the branch – differently than, for example, minks – than not especially noble fur suppliers. The German fur traders would buy the coats only from the slaughter-house and, therefore, could issue also no harmlessness label (as for example "origin guarantees"), says Kolb quail and jokes: "We deal with the body when he is inserted in wine sauce."

One has to go to her zugutehalten that she gets involved as one completely few in the branch generally in a conversation. Most of the called enterprises do not want to express themselves to the reproaches. Sometimes reaches the bare naming of "animal fur", already one says at the other end of the telephone line: "No comment!"

Burberry is shaken about the "cruel and unlawful action" which the videos documented. "The responsible people should (...) be punished with the whole hardness of the law." Burberry follows the reproaches and checks his chain of delivery. In general the enterprise takes only fur from the European farms in which the EU directives would be moved.

Fur lobbyist Kolb quail holds beating to death of young or ill animals in a barn gate or metal grid against it for normal. Thus will also proceed even today with cats: "Go in the country sometimes!" Kolb quail has worked earlier for the pharmaceutical industry and to animals a rather pragmatic relation. To a rabbit she has drawn off for the first time at the age of five years the fur. So properly she could not make friends with the animals. They are "incredibly stupid" quite in general.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

At first sight the mountain looks soft and fleecy. However, who looks at the video recording longer, recognises: These are fur leftovers and dead rabbits who pile up in a big garbage container somewhere in Spain. Over and over again the mountain moves quite easily. Under the corpses lie rabbits who were too small or thin for the breeding. Some still thrash about, others breathe only weakly. They would have survived the attempts, them with metal poles totzuprügeln, reports the protection of animals organisation of Animal Equality.
