Kendra Santos was a long-time employee for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. She faithfully and diligently worked for the PRCA for 20 years as Director of Media. When the rodeo perf was long over and everyone was at the bar or on their way to their next rodeo or in bed asleep Kendra was and still is up until wee hours of the morning capturing the events of the athletes and putting the details of each event it in to words that make the reader either feel like they were at the rodeo or they darn sure want to be there.
The media department has become an embarrassing laughing stock which the blatant ignorance of rodeo by incompetent people not knowing the difference between a cow and a horse does not grow the sport of rodeo it just sets it back and demeans the word "pro" by each mistake of ignorance. There's not one person in the PRCA media department that can say they knew Lane Frost or know Larry Mahan or has Ty Murray's number in their cell phone. How many of them can call Trevor Bazile at midnight and ask a favor of him? NONE of them. But Kendra has or has had personal friendships with all of them. There's not a cowboy or cowgirl past or current competitor that wouldn't drop what they're doing to take a call from Kendra Santos. She's earned the respect, love and hearts of an Industry for over 3 decades. With your current media department personnel, it is very unlikely that any of them know what a barrier or a flank strap looks like or what they're used for or at which end of the arena. None of them can cite rodeo history without using Google. Heck they don't even know it's a bad picture of a saddle bronc rider when his feet are in the guts, but they publish it on the cover of the Pro Rodeo Sports News anyway and completely embarrass the cowboys. And I'll bet money that not one of them can say they were friends with Lane Frost.
Last year during the NFR the PRCA media department reduced the number of media credentials signifigantly...why?? That's your superbowl of rodeo don't you want all the press you can get?
The PRCA needs to hire back the one and only true champion and fan of rodeo and it's athletes, sponsors, committees and fans, that writes outstanding articles with her infinite knowledge of the sport Ms Kendra Santos. Please sign the petition to bring Kendra back into the PRCA as Director of Media. Let's show the PRCA who the contestants, committees & fans want to get thier rodeo news from and bring some class back to the sports news!!
