Rethink EldMandate/computers in Semi Trucks

This computer monitors activity in movements of semi’s. As soon as the truck moves at 5mph it activates, it allows the truck to run for 11 hours. It doesn’t account for loading/unloading time, fuel time, traffic, ANY issue that prevents movement of the truck. The state started this in attempt to stop drivers from going over time limits, changing logs, speeding, etc. Because the clock doesn’t stop after activating drivers are being allowed to drive a few hours per 24 hour period, thus their loosing 95% of their incomes. Many drivers are speeding in attempt to get where they’re going to deliver loads so they can make their money. This system is causing caious, speeding, lack of rest/sleep. Loads aren’t getting to destinations on time or being picked up on time. Truckers are who/what makes the economy work, everything we (consumers) have in our homes get there by truckers. Stores get products, move products, stock shelf’s, sell to you, all because semi drivers move these products to the stores. Prices are going to sky rocket as products aren’t going to get to stores on time. Shelf’s are going to be empty. WE are going to suffer! The general idea of these computers is a good idea but they didn’t work out the quirks prior to installing the systems. Drivers are suffering, not making money, in reality going against regulations trying to deliver on time. The state & DOT must rethink this! They must look at delivery & unloading time! Often it takes 4-5 hours to get this done - that takes away driving time. Truckers are quitting like dropping flys! They aren’t away from their families, driving their life’s away, being away from their kids, missing holidays, for the fun of it. They do this as it’s their job! They have bills to pay, food to buy, children to support. This new law is preventing them from doing that. I can’t explain it completely so I suggest your going on the internet and reading up on this new law and system. We need 10,000 signatures to get the state to look at this, we also need 5,000 hashtags so it will go viral so again the state & DOT will examine this system. Again I say this not only effects the truck drivers but also YOU & I as we all use products truckers deliver.
