STOP the continuous local land development (and nature ruining) of houses in a rural area in NZ

I have lived on the same property for ten years now and it used to be beautiful, quiet, with prosperous life. Now the council has allowed houses to be built all over this free land area where animals used to wander. This disgusts me and their continuous land development needs to stop. Soon it will be another city and the land won't be rural anymore and the environment completely ruined. Although the land has been developed on with houses I would like to stop anymore possible development so they don't ruin all of our land entirely. ALL HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
