Remove Rush Limbaugh From The Air

Rush Limbaugh has finally stepped over the line. In nearly 9 hours of relentless defamation of character, slander and outright lies against Sandra Fluke, he has proven that he has no place on the airwaves. Let's band together and have his broadcast license  revoked once and for all.

We the undersigned hereby petition the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to immediately and permanently revoke Rush Limbaugh's license to broadcast, both through on-air and cable/satellite venues. This should include both audio and video broadcasts. We also further request that any and all syndication companies who are an agent for Mr. Limbaugh should immediately be made to terminate his contract, without financial penalty to themselves.

It's time Rush Limbaugh, sexist pig and misogynistic loudmouth, was silenced once and for all. He has gotten away with entirely too much over the last 15 years on the air.

After attacking Sandra Fluke for nearly the entirety of 3 3-hour shows, getting dressed down by everyone except the Republican Party, losing sponsor after sponsor and having multiple radio stations drop his show, you would have thought he would have wised up. But no, today he has a new target. Tracie McMillan, an author who has researched the food industry for nearly a year and written a book about it, is Rush's latest victim of sexist and racial discrimination.

But like I once saw on a refrigerator magnet..."Never try to teach a pig to sing. It annoys the pig and it wastes your time." Well, obviously this pig won't learn to shut up either. So it is time that the powers that be shut him down. He has flagrantly lied on his program, demonstrated that he has complete disregard for slander, libel and defamation of character laws, kowtowed to corporate and governmental interests and then hides behind the excuse that his show is for entertainment and not news. Well, when I was in radio nearly 35 years ago, even though I was a disc jockey, there were certain laws that had to be obeyed, one of which was that if you made a statement about someone, you better have proof of the statement to cover yourself if legal issues arose.

The standards of the broadcast media sank low enough when Howard Stern was allowed to continue his daily diatribes and insulting remarks. However, Mr. Limbaugh has taken the media into depths that should not be tolerated by anyone. It's time to start bringing civility and tolerance back to the on-air medium known as radio. That goes for broadcast radio as well as cable & satellite radio.
