Justice for Minorities at Bradley University; Reform Campus Police!

Bradley University Police have been discriminating against minorities on campus for a long time and no efforts have been made to stop this inequality. Demand reform within the Bradley University police procedures!

As an alumnus of Bradley University, I constantly felt that I was treated like an outsider on campus, especially by the Bradley police. Everyone should be treated the same and should feel safe, no matter the skin color.

To single out one incident, once while I was on campus, a few caucasian males who were not Bradley students entered the rec Center without facing any consequences, even though they were not supposed to have access to campus buildings. However, when I entered the rec center (as an African American and a former student with ID access to buildings), I was banned from all facilities on campus.

I have also been held up by campus police under the suspicion that my African American friend and I were carrying alcohol in our backpacks (which we were not). The police also suspected that we were drunk (which we were not).

While this was going on, a caucasian male wearing a chicken suit stumbled by, falling, yelling loudly, and showing clear sounds he was intoxicated. He walked right past the officers who ignored him. When asked why this clearly intoxicated person was not detained, the officer said that, "he is not [their] problem right now."

Why is that NPHC on-campus parties must have security while Fredonia frat parties are unrestricted and often have underage students getting drunk and passing out in the grass? Why is it that minority males get stopped at night while walking by BU Police? Why is that minorities are treated as if they do not attend this institution?
