Petition against deportation of Pr. Wilfred Nyambaka

Hon. Chris Alexander, M.P., Minister, Citizenship and Immigration Canada Hon. Steven Blaney, Minister, Public Safety, Canada We the undersigned want to express our concern and disappointment as a community over the deportation notice for Pastor Wilfred Mbaka Nyambaka. Wilfred was a fervent outspoken pastor against an outlawed vigilante group known as “Sungu Sungu” in Kenya that has murdered and burned alive thousands of innocent people. This outlawed group vowed to find and kill Pastor Nyambaka and are still looking for him to this day because of his stand against their heinous acts. We believe that this deportation order if enforced will put his life in danger or death and will be a gross violation of Canada’s tradition of protecting refugees As a signatory to the 1951 Geneva Convention on the Status of Refugees and 1967 Protocol, Canada is committed to offer protection to people who fear persecution or who may be at risk of torture or cruel and unusual treatment or punishment and are unwilling or unable to return to their home country for fear of death. We kindly urge you to ensure Canada’s integrity is not compromised. Pastor Wilfred’s deportation would be a contravention of Canada’s constitutionally enshrined commitment to human rights. Since his arrival in Canada, Pastor Wilfred Nyambaka has been a great contribution to our church and the African community as a whole. He is committed to helping our youth and young adults as a mentor and a big brother by running programs on leadership and drug use/abuse, premarital and marital counselling and dealing with bereavement or loss of loved ones. His contribution has greatly helped keep our young people on track, focused and have thus contributed and enhanced important Canadian values while contributing to the civic and cultural life of Canada. Even as a refugee claimant, Pastor Wilfred has been working hard and paying his taxes, and he has never been involved in any criminal activities. We need Pastor Wilfred in our community. We kindly urge you to put an immediate stay of Pastor Wilfred’s removal to stop his deportation and regularize his status in Canada.
