BISEXUAL VISIBILITY

I, Shimron Estafia Suarez, 23 years of age and an ordinary or average citizen of Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines, wanted to become a bisexual advocate and this might be the first step. As of this moment, according to Google Images, the bisexuals are only on the 40% while gays are at a 70% and the lesbians are at about 67%.

One of the reasons why this is currently the case is because people are afraid to be misjudged as part of another gender role. No offense to the other LGBTQ+ community but that seems to be unjust or unfair since WE DO ACTUALLY EXIST and there would not be a B on the lgBtq+ community without bisexuals. So as o this moment, a lot of people say it is easier for them to say they are gay rather than being in between the gay and straight spectrum. That really hurts and it haunts me seeing my bisexual friends and family stay depressed and unhappy because of this mistreatment, misjudgment and does get bullied because they are bisexuals. That is such a sad reality.

Another reason for this is that we have lack of funds since we are not that recognized just yet. And this step is like one of the firsts to get recognized here in the Philippines and abroad. The reason for that matter is that we are currently a small and rising community with only a few members worldwide. That really is unfortunate as of now. So these two main reasons has to change.

We really feel like now, this very moment that you are reading this petition, is the right time to stand up against those who mistreat, misjudge, mislead us to being other genders, and bully us because of being half gay and half straight. I mean... That is who we are and the fact is NO ONE has the right or not a single one of you can change what we are and what our gender identity is. We are BISEXUALS and we are PROUD THAT WE ARE WHO WE ARE. We will stay this way amidst every destructive, disrespectful, and depressing criticisms. We will no longer allow anyone to step on our dignities, destroy our lives, and control us.We believe that since we are also humans, we also have equal rights as you, which ever gender role you belong in this human spectrum.

And there are a lot more factors as to why people are afraid to come out as bisexuals that I could no longer decide which one goes first and last. But those two are the most important thing. All that is important for me now, is that we increase in number, in happiness ratings, and we start creating a spectrum of our own to make us feel alive, happy, relieved that we may no longer have to depend on the other members of the LGBTQ+ community (again no offense to you gays, lesbians, transgenders, queers and more).

So in connection with this, I would like to personally tell you that, if you sign this petition, you are thinking of our future an that you are a real one! We applaud you for doing the very first step to get us recognized as a bigger, happier, stronger, and BETTER BISEXUAL COMMUNITY. Thank you so much for your help, love, support, kindness, and generosity. We appreciate it so much.
